Living in a house built in the 1950′s can really freak a new mom out. Thank the Good Lord our paint tested negative for lead, but many families do not even know to test or cannot afford take the steps necessary to remove their family from a dangerous environment.
Check out this inspiring video from “Mom-On-A-Mission” Tamara Rubin and support her project if you feel so inclined. I did!
Let’s Make All Kids Lead-Free Kids
Also…make sure to check your toys against this list and don’t buy cheap kiddie jewelry with metal components. Chances are it has lead AND cadmium in it.

Your blog was one of my pics for the Liebster Blog Award – a way to for us smaller blogs to spread the love! The details are all in the link – http://thrivingdespiteus.blogspot.com/2012/01/liebster-blog-award.html…”It’s a Major Award.”
Wow I am so honored! Thank you! I will check this out and hopefully return the favor properly
That is always something that I worry about as we live in an older house!
I was always paralyzed by my fear, but also didn’t want to test because I couldn’t fathom what we would have to do to remediate the problem. A friend came over with a testing kit from Lowe’s and it was so quick and easy. He swabbed the window sill and the wall after making nicks in them to test multiple painted layers, and thank the Good Lord the swab did not turn red. Red=Lead.
