Oh hey there…dear skin of mine…It’s been a long, long time since I could look at you and not scowl.

For some reason you decided to freak out on me this fall (and in 2004-2005, for my wedding, thanks for that) and I was sooo over it.

Then, like a beautiful ray of light, I saw a comment on a Facebook post (Sommer Poquette, Tiffini Gatlin, you were there) and found new hope for clear skin.

This stuff, you guys…

burt's bees

took less than a month and boom:  nothing left on or under my skin.  Not even a magnifying mirror could find anything.

Do I sound like a Proactiv commercial yet?

I used to cringe when those spots (TV commercials) would come on and double-dog dare my husband to not give me the, “oh hey honey, maybe you should call them” look because, yeah, that was the last thing I wanted to do.

Don’t.  Even.

But now those commercials come on and we just laugh because who has clear skin again?

*Twothumbs* this girl.

And it feels FABULOUS.

Here’s my semi-eco routine:

skin care

1. Wash twice (OCD, or I’m just thorough, you decide) with Astara Botanical Cleansing Gelee.  It is so very light and smells amazing, not like harsh added fragrance but like, just, ahhhh.  You only need a tiny bit.  The link provided is not a direct link to the Astara site…instead it’s a link to SkinStore because you will get a 20% off coupon at least once per month if you sign up for their emails.  Score.

2. After washing, I applied a thin layer of Burt’s Bees Natural Acne Solutions Maximum Strength Spot Treatment Cream all over my face at first (avoiding my eye and mouth area), then tapered down as my skin started to clear and now only apply to the areas I know tend to be the most problematic.

3. Finally, I follow up with Cetaphil because it’s non-comedogenic and super easy on sensitive skin like mine.  This is the least “green” part of my cleansing/moisturizing routine, but I am hopeful that I will one day find a facial moisturizer that has all the benefits of this stuff minus the petrolatum, Peg-30, propylene glycol, etc.

I really need to find a good non-toxic comedogenic moisturizer WITH SPF that  is easy on sensitive skin, so please let me know if you know something great I can try.

Would you like to try Burt’s Bees?  Leave a comment below, share/like my FB post, Send or RT a tweet, etc. and I will give away my favorite new product to one lucky set of pores.  Winner chosen 2/19.

There are no affiliate links in this post and this is not a sponsored post.  I am so thankful to have finally found something that works and just want to do a giveaway.  Yay!
